As part of the collaboration between PRPD, AIR and Third Coast, the Association of Independents in Radio, Inc.
is pleased to announce a $20,000 scholarship fund to support
independent producers and new station-based programmers interested in
attending this year’s PRPD Public Radio Programming Conference in Cleveland, OH, September 15-18.
Funding for this program comes from the Corporation for Public
Broadcasting (CPB) and from NEA, the National Endowment for the Arts.
This year’s conference is designed to attract a broad mix of producers and PDs alike, with special sessions organized by the Third Coast International Audio Festival, and an AIR member meeting convened on Tuesday, September 15th at 2pm.
The
goal of this scholarship is to help foster a new culture of programming
that takes advantage of the new tools and platforms at our disposal,
and to provide support for bright program makers – producers and
station programmers alike – to step forward with new ideas.
Applicants
will be asked to submit a brief statement outlining one big idea for
how independent producers and stations can work together to harness
digital media and multiple platforms to engage local audience in new
ways. A panel will be convened to review applications and final
decisions announced the week of August 17. Those who have never
attended a PRPD Conference are particularly encouraged to apply.
Individual
scholarships of up to $1,500 per individual will be awarded and must be
used to offset costs associated with PRPD transportation, meals, hotel,
and registration.
