Title: WFIU Station Manager

Organization: WFIU Public Radio

Description: This university-licensed public radio station is seeking a station manager to lead a successful public media enterprise. The station, part of Indiana University, is committed to both classical/jazz music and news/arts/public affairs.  Responsible for programming, an extensive online presence, production, marketing, outreach, and operations and guides decisions in fundraising and works with state, regional, and national organizations as well as sister station WTIU Public Television. Candidates should be thoughtful about the future of the industry, familiar with national public broadcasting issues, and experienced in articulating the public broadcasting mission to many constituencies, and familiar with online, programming, and legal issues.

* Required: Bachelor's degree in an area related to WFIU operations such as journalism, telecommunications, arts administration, history, or music and five years of progressively responsible experience managing different areas in public broadcasting.  Demonstrated leadership of complex operations. Excellent writing and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus especially as it relates to human resources and the use of technology. 

* Preferred: Master's degree and/or equivalent experience. Ten years of progressive experience in public broadcasting. 

* Other Information: WFIU is an integral part of the academic community and its manager must be aware of and involved in the intellectual resources of the institution. The station serves large portions of central and southern Indiana and globally on the web. The station produces significant local content and was the second-most-licensed station by PRX in 2010. WFIU is in Bloomington, IN, a quintessential college town located in the rolling hills of southern Indiana (www.visitbloomington.com). The station has 23 FTE and a budget of $41.3 million.
