Job Title: Operations & Traffic Coordinator/Radio Host

Description of Job Position: 
KUAC 89.9 FM at the University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks an experienced FM broadcaster to join the #1 rated radio station in the Fairbanks region. This position has the dual functions of Operations & Traffic Coordinator and Radio Host of the morning air shift including NPR's Morning Edition and PRI's Here and Now. You would be working with state-of-the-art broadcast studio equipment and traffic software. All applicants need to pay particular attention to the special instructions noted in the job posting. 
 
Job duties are summarized below:
Radio Host.  
(1)Host, produce and serve as announcer/board operator for the morning air shift which currently includes NPR's Morning Edition and PRI's Here and Now covering other programming shifts as needed. Facilitates board operations for local newscasts.
 
(2)Contributes to a wide range of membership- and relationship-building campaigns including serving as on-air host, pledge producer, voice talent, and interviewer.
 
Operations and Traffic.
(1)Compile detailed, accurate and timely broadcast program and operational logs on a daily basis using ProTrack traffic software. Enter client information, underwriting and promotional schedules and verification of announcements aired. 
 
(2)Regularly maintain, update, troubleshoot and coordinate use of the radio automation system. Assist with training on-call operators as well as recording and scheduling required station IDs, promotional announcements, underwriting credits, music beds and program content.
 
3)Coordinate and monitor the Public Radio Satellite System and Content Depot to schedule and ensure recording or download of radio programs to KUAC-FM.
 
Qualification and Job Requirements:
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Comprehensive knowledge of radio broadcast operations, media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods. Advanced demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of broadcast media equipment including computer automation systems, digital editing software, digital routing switchers, broadcast consoles, etc. Excellent radio announcing and board operating skills. Knowledge of industry rules and regulations for broadcasting including Federal Communications Commission and Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Highly effective time management skills, attention to detail and communication and interpersonal abilities. Experience working in a deadline-oriented environment.  
 
Education or Training Required:  
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, media or related degree, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  
 
Length of time and type of experience required: 
3 years experience working at a broadcast radio station or relevant equivalent work experience.  
 
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities: 
Experience with broadcast writing and delivery, use of computer database programs, experience with computer automation systems, understanding of public radio station operations and best practices.
