Job Title: News Director
Location: WRVO Public Media/Oswego, NY
Description: WRVO Public Media seeks a Director of Regional Content Development to manage news operations and serve as reporter/host/producer of regional news and public affairs coverage. Work with the Director of Programming and Operations to set agenda for regional coverage, serve as primary editor of all locally produced content including freelance submissions. Provide editorial oversight for and host award-winning Community Forum events. Serve as back-up host for Morning Edition, All Things Considered.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field; Minimum four years full-time professional experience as a reporter/editor in public media; Portfolio demonstrating solid experience covering regional issues and pitching stories to NPR and/or other network news providers; Experience generating sound-rich NPR-style reporting; Demonstrated competence working in a live radio environment; Demonstrated competence in newswriting, editing and broadcast production; Effective professional communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to meet daily deadlines, sometimes under stressful conditions.
