Title: Morning Edition Local Host
Organization: WVTF/RADIO IQ/Virginia Public Radio
Description: WVTF/RADIO IQ seeks a part time morning announcer/network news program host to work as part of a two person morning news team in our Roanoke facility. Hosting duties include announcing during network breaks as well as anchoring newscasts and introducing reporter features; typical board op responsibilities such as transmitter monitoring for our extensive system of signals; working closely with morning news producer, program director for station sound, and news director for locally produced news content.
Requirements: The ideal candidate has radio announcing experience and possesses a friendly, professional delivery that fits seamlessly into NPR's Morning Edition. Strong on-air skills and exceptional digital audio production/audio board operation a must. Experience in public radio announcing, program hosting, multi-station board operation/monitoring a plus. This position requires a highly productive, responsible, and enterprising individual who possesses a grasp of how global issues connect to the WVTF/RADIO IQ listening area in central and western Virginia. The successful candidate must be able to work well under deadline and related pressures inherent at this size broadcasting operation. The successful candidate will be joining a team-oriented, listener-driven programming department at a growing public radio service that currently covers more than half of Virginia with repeater transmitters/translators (with further expansion planned); a central newsroom in Roanoke; and two news bureaus (Charlottesville & Richmond).
Salary: Hourly wage: $15 - $22 depending on experience
