Description: WFPL/Louisville Public Media has two openings for General Assignment Reporter/Anchor – positions open until filled. The General Assignment Reporter/Anchor is responsible for reporting and writing local news, anchoring newscasts and hosting local segments on WFPL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct interviews and cover news events in the field, over telephone, or by other means.
* Produce short- and long-form news reports based on interviews and events covered.
* Post news and other content online
* Write, produce and deliver newscasts on WFPL, as assigned.
* Host local segments during network newsmagazines, as assigned.
* Generate story ideas.
* Attend daily news meetings, and other special meetings, as scheduled.
* Read NPR underwriting credits and other non-news material as assigned.
* Participate in Louisville Public Media events and represent the organization at public and professional functions and conferences.
* Participate in on-air fundraising campaigns.
The General Assignment Reporter/Anchor works Monday-Friday 10am-6pm. The reporter also participates in the weekend on-call rotation. Hours are subject to change.
