Job Title: Senior News Editor

Job Description: New England Public Radio (88.5FM WFCR and 640AM WNNZ) seeks an experienced, creative news editor/producer for its growing news staff. The Senior News Editor will work closely with the News Director to assign, edit and produce daily spots and features for broadcast in Morning Edition and All Things Considered. They will also plan and produce weekly and monthly news and culture shows ranging from pre-produced 17-minute segments to full-hour, live call-in shows. The successful applicant will have excellent news judgment, be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, create scripts designed for radio broadcast and consistently meet deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with four years experiences as a news reporter and/or editor, preferably in public radio. Sound, creative news judgment; commitment to balance and basic journalism ethics. Ability to develop story ideas, make coverage decisions and report, write, voice and edit to public radio standards. Familiarity with digital audio editing and web-content entry techniques; broadcast content software such as Newsboss or Burli and studio technology and practices. Ability to work outside normal business hours and travel. WFCR is located in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, a region renowned for distinguished educational institutions and a vibrant artistic and cultural life. The area is easily accessible to the major metropolitan centers of the Northeast.
Salary: $44,100 to $54,300
