Job Title: Radio Reporter/Producer

Location: WMFE

Description : Radio Reporter / Producer serves as general assignment reporter and part time producer for weekly half hour talk show Intersection" on WMFE. Anticipated 50/50 split between reporting and producing duties. Initial reporting emphasis on transportation and growth issues, producing network-quality long-form news and feature stories, and spots on a variety of local topics. Producing role will assist with all steps in weekly segment production including: screening and booking guests, script writing, post production, and online content management. Reporter/Producer will also serve as backup broadcast host for all news programs and will participate in WMFE news series and special coverage. Must have personal auto insurance, valid Florida Driver License, and an acceptable driving.

 

Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational skills and creative radio production.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years radio reporting experience required, preferably with 2 years in Public Radio.
  • Radio program producing experience preferred.
  • Proficient and efficient usage of software provided to complete job responsibilities.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver's License, personal auto insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to WMFE's auto insurance provider.
  • Familiarity with blogging and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
