Position Title: Radio Producer
Organization: University of Missouri, KBIA
Description: Develop ideas, plan, analyze, report, and produce agribusiness programs for radio broadcast and multiplatform distribution. File regular long-form, NPR-standard features and spot news coverage on agribusiness topics. Produce reports for distribution to the mid-west and made available nationally and internationally.
Assist with creating web and multiplatform reports on agribusiness topics through podcasting, photography, videographer, blogs and social networking, as well as participating in community engagement efforts.
Produce talk programming and may appear as a guest to discuss agribusiness topics.
Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with colleagues in higher education, journalism, agriculture, animal science, and multi-state partnerships. Collaborate with contacts throughout Missouri and nationally to develop news stories and ensure effective distribution of information. Train and partner with reporters and editors from the six participating public-radio stations that form the Agribusiness Journalism Center.
Travel in-state and nationally may be required.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension and KBIA.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in a communications-related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary. One year of radio broadcasting/production experience is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, liberal arts, or agriculture food & fuel related. At least one year experience in public broadcasting and long-form journalism experience is required in order to be considered for this position. Demonstrated expertise and interest in covering agriculture, food and fuel topics is necessary, as well as experience producing journalism across platforms.
Idea candidate will also have a solid grasp of agribusiness, topics and food/fuel production and its impact in the Midwest. Ability to cover breaking news as well as report through long-form, innovative storytelling. Must be able to report breaking stories for both newscasts and major programs. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Ability and willingness to work varied shifts. Familiarity with the public radio system. Proven ability to consistently work well with others, demonstrating at all times respect for the diverse participants within the public radio and university system. Experience in use of microphones, recorders and digital editing software. Demonstrated experience and familiarity with new media, including blogging and social media.
Finally, because KBIA operates as a unique "news lab" serving more than a hundred students at the Missouri School of Journalism each week, applicant must have the ability and disposition to work in an educational environment where students are learning and collaborating with reporters daily.
Salary: $25,400-30,000
