Job Title: Public Radio Show Producers -- 4 full-time positions available

Job Description: North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring four (4) full-time producers to join the staffs of its two midday radio shows The Story with Dick Gordon and The State of Things. Each show will add a Broadcast Producer and an Associate Producer. The Associate Producer positions are considered junior-level jobs. Successful candidates will help WUNC bring a fresh sound to public radio. Qualified applicants will be considered for all four job openings.
The Broadcast Producer(s) will select and research show topics, pre-interview and book guests, write scripts and create original content for the web/social media. They will also fill in as Senior Producer, Director and Managing Editor on occasion. S/he will also produce special programming for fundraising and participate in station events as required.
The Associate Producer(s) will assist with the development of show topics and ideas for guests. They will source tape, music and other elements to support interview segments. S/he will also participate in fundraising activities as assigned. The Story with Dick Gordon (based in Chapel Hill) is produced by WUNC, distributed by APM and heard by an estimated 750,000 listeners on more than 100 stations nationwide. The State of Things (based in Durham) is hosted by NPR veteran Frank Stasio and explores the North Carolina identity through interviews and analysis on a wide variety of subjects. Producers on the show work collaboratively to create a hip, intellectually rich program that entertains and engages WUNC listeners each weekday. Listen: www.stateofthings.org

Requirements: Broadcast producer candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field (Master's degree preferred) and a minimum of 5 years experience in journalism or broadcast programming, public radio news experience is preferred. Associate producer candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in a news environment, public radio experience is preferred.
