Position Title: Program Director
Organization: WUNC-FM
Description: WUNC-FM, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly experienced news and public affairs programmer to serve as the station%u2019s program director. The PD will oversee the creation and direction of original news and information programming as well as guide the content of our nationally syndicated programs. The program director leads a news and programming staff of twenty-two employees including direct supervision of the news director, executive producer and senior producers of talk programming, the website coordinator and operations manager.
Requirements: Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, with a master's degree preferred. Ten years experience as journalist or broadcast producer required. Applicants should possess management and supervisory experience, with increasing responsibility in each successive position. Leading candidates will have experience supervising public radio programming, considerable knowledge of radio broadcasting equipment, including digital editing, broadcast operating boards, and exceptional written and oral communication skills. A familiarity with North Carolina, national and international issues is preferred. Experience with planning and executing on-air pledge drives is a plus.
