Position Title: Director of Membership

Organization: North Texas Public Broadcasting (KERA)

Description: North Texas Public Broadcasting Inc. (KERA), the Dallas/Fort Worth PBS and NPR affiliate, has an opening for a Director of Membership. Working with others in the organization and contracted firms, this position is responsible for shaping short- and long-term fund-raising strategies directed toward membership growth for individual gifts between $35-$1,499, member services and attaining annual revenue goals.

The Director of Membership oversees 10 membership staff and reports to the Vice President for Membership and Marketing. The Director of Membership develops strategies, implements plans and oversees: on-air fund-raising drives; direct and in-house mail programs; telemarketing; online and e-fund raising; member benefits and events; donor acknowledgements; matching gifts; audience and member services; and the volunteer program. This position also prepares, monitors and analyzes revenue and expense as well as member statistics and trends. The Director of Membership is involved with data-base matters such as gift type rules, policies and procedures, and management of donor information and classifications. KERA's donor management software is Team Approach. The Director of Membership stays conversant with best practices and resources provided through PBS, NPR and other public broadcasting and not-for-profit entities.
 
Qualifications/Requirements: The successful candidate must have a college degree and at least five years experience managing a membership or similar type of program, preferably in the not-for-profit sector. Other requirements include excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and
personnel management experience. Working knowledge of the Web as a fund-raising tool is a plus. The successful candidate must also have experience with donor database systems, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel. Proven experience in budgeting and statistical analysis is required, as is the ability to work some evenings and weekends.
